You get the email
“Your applicant portal has been updated”
Your heart drops at the speed of light
Your hands are shaking as you open up your portal 
“A decision on your application has been reached” it reads

You worked hard for 4 years to get to where you are today
You know you deserve to get into a good college
You deserve an acceptance 

As you stare at the screen 
You think about the scenarios in your head

What if it’s an acceptance letter? 
Then you let out a high squeal and a sigh of relief
Your hard work has paid off
You have been admitted to a college
But most of all
You have an option 
A worthy addition to your plethora of other acceptances

What if it’s a rejection?
Then you will be upset at first
But then you will realise that it’s all okay
You aren’t perfect
You can’t get into every school 
The school lost out on a good one
And there are other schools out there

You close your eyes
Take a deep breath
And move your mouse over to the link
You click on it
The screen loads
And there it is
There’s your decision
